Why Lyon?

We’re glad you asked! We are a selective undergraduate liberal arts college located in the foothills of the scenic Ozarks. Founded in 1872, we are one of the oldest colleges in Arkansas. Valued for our small class sizes, strong student-faculty interactions, and community atmosphere, Lyon has forged a singular identity by combining a deep commitment to liberal arts education with an invigorating setting. Most importantly, we are the college that will help you become the person you were born to be.

Transfer Students

We are delighted that you are looking at Lyon College as your next step in education. Whether you are looking for a change from your current school or have finished up at a community college, Lyon has plenty to offer.

For associate degree holders from Arkansas colleges, we have a Freedom Plan Scholarship just for you. It's a half-tuition scholarship!

Also, Lyon has articulation agreements with several community and junior colleges. Articulation agreements give a list of classes that will transfer to Lyon. Check out the full list of schools with which Lyon has articulation agreements and the lists of classes.

If you are looking to transfer from your current school without an associates degree, that's great, too! Transfer students meeting admission requirements are eligible for transfer scholarships.

You can apply for admission through the Lyon Application or the Common App. We would love to hear from you and help make your transition to Lyon College as smooth as possible.
