A recent Department of Labor study indicates that an average person holds 10 or more jobs between the ages of 18 and 36. Often the changes are voluntary as people's interests change or they move up the career ladder. Sometimes job changes are needed because of corporate mergers, "downsizing", bankruptcies, or technology changes.

The bottom line is that it's extremely important to develop the skills needed to not only get that first real job, but also to change and grow as your life circumstances change.
