Purpose: Sigma Tau Delta, founded at Dakota Wesleyan College in 1924, is the international English honor society with over a thousand chapers worldwide. It recognizes undergraduate and graduate students who have achieved distinction in their study of the English language and its literature.
Sigma Tau Delta offers annual awards, scholarships, and opportunities to publish academic or creative work. Lyon College's Eta Lambda chapter was founded in 1971.
Its members are English majors and minors who attain a 3.0 average in upper-level coursework. The chapter serves the campus by annually publishing The Wheelbarrow magazine of literature and art produced by the college community.
