Resume Writing

What is a Resume?

resume writing skills | Lyon College

A resume is a selling tool - an advertisement for yourself, an introduction to a prospective employer that introduces you and often determines whether you get a further look or interview. Be positive, dynamic, purposeful, direct, assertive

A resume could also be described as a summary - a concise, accurate work-picture of you, not an autobiography, rather an inventory of your skills, experience, accomplishments and occupational interests. Be concise, clear, organized, neat, honest, and be yourself.

Finally, a resume is a guide and a reminder - for the interviewer to use both during the interview and afterward. Be thorough, consistent, memorable.
