Physics is the scientific study of the fundamental principles governing matter and its motion and behavior through space and time. Students completing the physics minor at Lyon College become confident and versatile problem-solvers who use physical inuition, careful analysis, and quantitative skills to study, comprehend, and model the world around them. They develop a solid understanding of core concepts and applications of statistical physics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, experimental techniques, quantum mechanics, and relativity.
Lyon allows students to develop an individualized major with the approval of their advisor, the division chair, and the provost, as indicated in the Lyon College Course Catalog.
Lyon is more than just a college. It's a community distinguished by its academic curriculum, unique honor and social systems, and award-winning professors.
