Dr. Oliveira joined the Lyon faculty in 2012. Originally from Brazil, she is a Geneticist and Evolutionary Biologist. Her research focuses on understanding the process of speciation in insects by studying traits that are responsible for reproductive isolation in the early stages of species divergence. Dr. Oliveira currently serves as a freshman mentor and faculty advisor for Circle Kiwanis International (CKI) club. She also currently serves as a member on the Academic Affairs Council and Strategic Planning Steering Committee. Dr. Oliveira routinely teaches Biology in Context (BIO 100), Genetics (BIO 252), Molecular Biology (BIO 352), and Evolution (BIO 370).
