The Office of Academic Services promotes the creation and maintenance of quality curricular and co-curricular programs. The programs and services that this staff offer foster lifelong learning, service to others, civic and moral responsibility, and fulfilling vocations.
Advancement serves as a link between you and Lyon. The advancement staff are here to help alumni, parents, and friends of the College who wish to know more about Lyon, to volunteer to help "advance" Lyon's cause, and to pledge to give or obtain financial support that will translate into more scholarships, better academic facilities, and an endowment that will perpetuate a quality of education for generations to come.
Lyon believes that athletics play an important role in building character and integrity as well as promoting leadership, teamwork, and responsibility. Lyon proudly competes athletically in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I as part of the American Midwest Conference and Sooner Athletic Conference (football and women's wrestling) as the Scots.
In its commitment to supporting the College's mission to offer a quality, affordable liberal arts education, the Office of Business and Finance aspires to be innovative in creating an environment in which students, faculty, and staff are proud to thrive and in analyzing, interpreting, and presenting information to inspire creative business solutions.
Campus safety officers provide a measure of security to Lyon. Official duties include securing campus property after business hours, enforcing campus policies, maintaining the general order of campus, and responding to complaints from faculty, staff, and students. Officers also serve as a liaison to local police and emergency service authorities.
The Office of Enrollment Services recruits new students who can benefit from and contribute to the educational programs at the College. Enrollment services staff are committed to student success and available to provide resources and answer questions concerning administrative and financial issues.
Members of the Lyon College faculty are devoted teacher-scholars. They provide students with not only a thorough understanding of the theory and practice of a specific discipline but also of the interconnections between that discipline and other fields of study. The result is an educational experience of exceptional breadth (interdisciplinary) and depth (major field of study).
In support of Lyon's mission, the Mabee-Simpson Library provides superior quality resources and services that foster learning, working, and professional development. While many of these resources are accessible through the campus network, many are also available in a comfortable physical facility that encourages freedom of inquiry, social exchanges, and the pursuit of personal growth. Library services will enrich the intellectual and cultural environment of the College, while promoting and supporting lifelong learning among students, faculty, and staff.
The marketing and communications department oversees the College’s communications, marketing, brand management, and public relations. Staff provide creative services and communications planning, including copywriting, editing, media relations, photography, and graphic design to support the College’s strategic plan, academic currcium, student recruiting and fundraising, and campus and community relations.
The president’s office includes the President, chief of staff and vice president for administration, director of institutional research, and family advocate. This office provides support to the president in the execution of his/her duties and responsibilities. It provides staff support and communicates regularly with the Board of Trustees; it provides staff support for cabinet meetings. The office provides the institutional research component for the college. In addition, the office supports students and families through the family advocate role.
Student life staff assist students in their efforts to achieve communication skills, intellectual openness, personal self-discovery, leadership, civic engagement, and lifelong learning skills. Members of the student life staff facilitate the process in which students weave choices into the fabric of their lives as they develop their potential in learning what it means to be a person of honor and integrity.
