Why Outdoor Leadership at Lyon?

All students can benefit from the Outdoor Leadership concentration. The outdoor fieldwork combines teaching applications with scientific study. This provides practical experience for those majoring in Business Management, Biology, Psychology, and Education. Most of all, the concentration fosters a learning environment for students who love the outdoors. It equips students with lifelong skills to enjoy the outdoors safely, and they get the means to pass on that enjoyment to others.

Ways To Get Involved 

A majority of LEAP events take place on the Lyon College campus. Lyon is home to a bouldering wall, 18-hole disc golf course, a hiking and biking trail totaling approximately 5 miles, and a ropes course including both low and high elements. LEAP offers free outdoor rental equipment for all manners of outdoor recreation.

“I absolutely love the opportunities to get out and really explore not only Arkansas but also other parts of the country through LEAP. My favorite experience was the Arkansas Regional Adventure Program. I got to meet so many new people who enjoy the same things that I do and compete in a Dutch oven competition!”
