Lyon College Symphonic Winds to perform Christmas concert

The Lyon College Symphonic Winds will present its Winds and Friends Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 1 in Brown Chapel.

Under the direction of Montgomery Hill and assisted by Valerie Hill, the symphonic winds will share the stage with the Valley Springs High School Band, directed by Wayne Root.

The program will include an eclectic assortment of Christmas favorites, including the traditional “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” the South-American “Brazilian Bell Carol” and the Scottish “Christmas Auld Lang Syne.”

The program will also feature soloists David Lewis, ’20 and Madison Oden, ’17. Lewis will perform “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” featured in the 1944 film “Meet Me in St. Louis," while Oden will perform the African-American spiritual “Go Tell it on the Mountain.”

The event, sponsored by the Lyon College Band Program, is free and open to the public.
