The following message from President W. Joseph King was sent to students, facutly, and staff on Wednesday, Jan. 6:
Lyon Community,
Right now, our country is in an unsettling moment in history. Like me, I am sure you are watching the violence at the Capitol and feeling shock, fear, and perhaps, anger.
I don’t have many words for you at this moment. Nevertheless, I want you to know that the Lyon Community will continue to support one another and allow for peaceful, civil discourse. We are one country. We are one college.
I believe in the constitution, and I believe in our country’s perseverance. We as members of Lyon College understand perseverance all too well.
Please know that senior staff and I are monitoring the events in Washington, D.C. closely, and we will keep the wellbeing of our community in the forefront of our minds as we navigate this situation.
