Lyon College’s jazz band, pipe band and art department will come together to present A Lyon College Showcase at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at the Wildwood Park for the Arts in Little Rock.
The concert will showcase not only talented Lyon College students but also acclaimed guest artists from the central Arkansas area.
The jazz band, under the direction of Monty Hill, will welcome saxophonist Earl Hesse, trombonist Sim Flora and jazz vocalist Leslie Oden. The program will consist of legendary big band classics.
The pipe band, under the direction of Jimmy Bell, will present an evening of Celtic music and Highland dancing. Bell is an internationally acclaimed bagpiper and leads the award-winning pipe band at Lyon.
Following the concert, the College will host a reception at which concert-goers can view wonderful works of art created by student artists under the leadership of Dustyn Bork, associate professor of art.
Admission to this event is $10. Tickets may be purchased at the Wildwood Park for the Arts website.
