Lyon to present annual Festival of Lessons and Carols

Lyon College and the Batesville Choral Society will celebrate the annual Christmas service, A Festival of Lessons and Carols at 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, at the Christian Science Church.

Under the direction of Michael Oriatti, Assistant Professor of Music, Lyon and the choral society will usher in the Christmas season with a service that combines Christmas carols and Advent hymns with scripture readings and traditional musical arrangements.

The program will begin with a brief organ recital. Soloists Amelia Gaye, ’18, and Anne Marie Sonnier will perform on the church’s internationally renowned neo-baroque Flentrop pipe organ.

The second half of the service will alternate between choral works and readings of scripture. Soloists include tenor Nicholas Czerwinski, guitarist Jon Healey and members of the Highland Youth Singers of Batesville.

The event is free and open to the public.
