The Kresge Gallery at Lyon College will host a closing reception for the exhibition “Women to Watch 2016: Organic Matters” from the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) at 5 p.m. Thursday, December 1.
The event will feature a talk by exhibit coordinator Barbara Sattenfield, who will discuss selected works from the exhibit.
Women to Watch features emerging and underrepresented female artists from the states and countries in which the museum has outreach committees. Each exhibition focuses on a specific medium or theme chosen by NMWA’s curators.
The 2016 Arkansas Women to Watch Exhibit features work by Arkansas artists Dawn Holder, Sandra Luckett, Katherine Rutter and Melissa Wilkinson. Included in the exhibit is Holder’s 10-by-10 installation of trees, flowers, cattails and pools made of porcelain, porcelain paper-clay, poly-fill, plaster, sugar, chocolate and butterscotch almond bark, hard candy, cotton candy and iridescent paint.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served in the gallery.
