Lyon College Fills Advancement Positions

Lyon College recently filled two positions in its advancement department. Longtime supporters of the liberal arts, Jill Mobley and Cindy Barber, ‘85, will serve as the Chief Engagement Officer for Gift Programs and Chief Engagement Officer for Alumni and Parents, respectively.

Jill Mobley has ample training in her field, having worked with alumni relations and annual funds for about six years. As the director of annual giving at Texas A&M University-Commerce before arriving at Lyon, Mobley established a three-year strategic plan for increasing its private support, proved instrumental in soliciting and closing gifts, and coordinated the annual solicitations of the university's constituent groups. Numerous other positions have further equipped her for her work supporting the Annual Fund and helping the College engage with its community. She will receive a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2019.

“It’s about understanding the culture that exists at each place; understanding from the alumni, parents, students, and employees what makes each school unique, special, and what fuels their pride in their institution,” said Mobley. “I absolutely love hearing those stories!”

Cindy Barber received her B.S. in accounting from Lyon and was its 1985 Coffin Medalist. She has had a successful career in financial management and in social services while raising three children with her husband. For the past six years, she has worked with young families in the Batesville School District, focusing on family well-being, parent education, and connection to resources. A resident of Batesville, Barber has already parented two children through college, an experience which has helped her understand the needs of Lyon students and their families.

Eager to connect with other members of the Lyon community, Barber said, “I'm so excited for this opportunity! I hope to help build strong Lyon family relationships that will last throughout the lives of the students and to provide a mutually beneficial network of connections and support that promote the growth and mission of the College.”
