The Lyon College Band will travel to Northwest Arkansas for two unique performance opportunities in early October. Formed only three years ago under Director of Bands Monty Hill, the Lyon College Band Program currently consists of a marching band, concert band, and jazz band.
First, the marching band will perform at the Blackhawk Classic Marching Competition at Pea Ridge High School on Saturday, October 7 at 5:00 p.m. Hill says, “This is a great opportunity for the students in this part of the state to learn about Lyon College and specifically the band program.”
In addition to the marching performance, the entire Lyon College Band will perform for the 10:30 a.m. worship service at the First Presbyterian Church of Springdale on Sunday, October 8. When Reverend Kade Curry moved from Searcy to Springdale this summer, Hill suggested that the Lyon College Band perform for a worship service, and the two have worked together closely in recent months. This service will include the entire marching band, jazz combo, vocal, ensemble, and pianist.
Lyon is more than just a college. It's a community distinguished by its academic curriculum, unique honor and social systems, and award-winning professors.
