Effective immediately, Lyon College has joined the network of colleges and universities accepting the Common Application. Students applying for the fall 2016 semester may use this application in addition to Lyon’s own online application, accessible through the College’s website at www.lyon.edu.
The Common Application, accessible at www.commonapp.org, allows students to streamline their college selection process by filling in their information once and sending it to multiple schools. Students can set up a dashboard on their online accounts to manage deadlines and explore potential schools.
For students feeling overwhelmed about the college application process, the Common Application breaks it down into four easy steps! The first step is to create an online account, which only requires basic profile information such as name, date of birth, address, phone number, and email address. Once students create an account, they can search more than 600 schools, including Hendrix College in Arkansas, Christian Brothers University in Tennessee, Rhodes College in Tennessee, and Millsaps College in Mississippi. They can create a list of the schools they want to apply to, and even though certain schools may ask for additional information, students may enter their general application information one time to send to all the schools on their list.
Lyon will also keep its own application available for students who wish to use it. By using either of these methods, prospective students will hopefully find their application process easier and less stressful!
Lyon is more than just a college. It's a community distinguished by its academic curriculum, unique honor and social systems, and award-winning professors.
