Delta Symphony Orchestra to perform at Lyon

The Delta Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Neale Bartee, Ph.D., will perform at Lyon College at 3 p.n. Sunday, October 30, in Brown Chapel.

Admission is free to this family-focused concert; however, donations are greatly appreciated. Concert sponsors include First Community Bank, Lyon College and the Batesville Symphony League.

The program will include Handel’s "Overture in D minor," the Finale from Beethoven’s "Symphony No. 5," Saint-Saens’ "Danse Bacchanale," Wagner’s "Ride of the Valkyries" and the Overture to Leonard Bernstein's "Candide."

The program will also feature violinist Sarah Beth Overcash from Brinkley, Ark. Overcash will play Mendelssohn’s "Violin Concerto in E minor" on the 1925 Lowendahl violin that belonged to her grandfather, Clarence Overcash.

Overcash has performed with the Delta Symphony Orchestra for four years. She is a member of the Memphis Youth Symphony Orchestra, often serving as its concertmaster, and has performed in master classes with William Preucil, Kevin Lawrence, Paul Roby and Hal Grossman.

Bartee will present a pre-concert lecture at 2:15 p.m. in the Bevens Music Room.
