The Lyon College Concert Chorale will perform its Choral Evensong at the Christian Science Church in Batesville, Ark., at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 9.
Under the direction of Michael Oriatti, assistant professor of music, the concert chorale will join the St. Cecilia Choir, directed by Clayton Orr, for a service that celebrates classical hymns and choral arrangements with scripture readings.
The program will include an assortment of traditional canticles, including Alice Parker’s arrangement of “Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal” and Mozart’s “Agnus Dei.”
David Sonnier, associate professor of computer science, and Anne Marie Sonnier will perform a father-daughter duet of Cesar Franck’s “Panis Angelicus.” The arrangement of "Panis Angelicus" comes from the Oxford Bach Books for Organ, which features notes from the College's own Russell Stinson, Josephine Emily Brown professor of music and organist.
The program will also feature Jon Healey performing Paul Simon's “American Tune” and Laura Stinson performing Bach’s “Sarabande” on the flute.
The concert chorale will present Choral Evensong in memory of Jean Crouch.
