Recognizing the need for another Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) on campus, LuAnn Baker, Director of Health and Wellness at Lyon College, applied for a grant from the Blue & You Foundation. The foundation awarded the College $1,000 to purchase another AED for Lyon’s football complex and practice field. This additional AED, with 12 others that were purchased in 2011, ensures that no place on campus is more than 3 minutes’ running distance from an AED.
Since 2010, Lyon’s student population has grown by 12 percent, and the campus has expanded to include the new football complex and two new residence halls. The addition of this AED, as well as Lyon’s established comprehensive CPR/AED program, ensures that Lyon students live and work in an environment equipped with proper life-saving tools and key persons on campus trained to use them.
Lyon is more than just a college. It's a community distinguished by its academic curriculum, unique honor and social systems, and award-winning professors.
