Lyon College will host an exciting weekend for alumni and visitors alike this fall.
For the first time ever, the College will combine Homecoming and the Arkansas Scottish Festival into a campus-wide festival. The dates have been set for Friday, Oct. 8., through Sunday, Oct. 10.
Director of Alumni Engagement Cindy Barber said large events were postponed on campus this past year due to COVID-19 restrictions. By celebrating both Homecoming and the Scottish Festival on the same weekend this October, she said the entire Lyon community- students, faculty, staff, alumni, families and friends- will have the chance to be on campus and enjoy each other’s company for the first time in months.
“We are so excited for the entire Lyon community to gather on campus and experience the things they love about the Arkansas Scottish Festival, along with the excitement of the annual Homecoming events, all in one fun-filled weekend!” Barber said.
Vice President for Advancement David Hutchison said the Arkansas Scottish Festival is one of the greatest and most beloved traditions for “not only Lyon College, but the entire surrounding region.”
“For many Arkansans, it’s the first time they visited the campus,” he said, “and it is one of the first things they associate with Lyon.”
Hutchison concluded, “This new, combined weekend will further strengthen that relationship between college and community, while bringing together an incredible diversity of people for one great festival weekend.”
Lyon is more than just a college. It's a community distinguished by its academic curriculum, unique honor and social systems, and award-winning professors.
