Commencement will be back on campus and in person this May!
The schedule for Lyon College’s end-of-year celebrations is as follows:
In the event of inclement weather, all events will be held inside the Becknell Gymnasium.
Provost Melissa Taverner said all plans are being formulated to meet the College’s COVID-19 safety guidelines. All events will require the use of face masks and social distancing.
“To that end, we will arrange seating with sufficient distance between chairs for all participants and spectators,” Taverner said, “and will organize the processions to permit safe distancing between individuals and members of the audience.”
Because of the large area that these events will occupy, the College has limited the number of guests that each graduate will be permitted to invite to the in-person venues.
“The end of the 2020 academic year was such a challenge, in part because we missed being able to celebrate the achievements of our graduates in person, with them and their families,” said Taverner.
She concluded, “We are very excited to return to our in-person commencement activities this year and look forward to further strengthening the ties that bind our Lyon community together.”
More information will be released as plans are finalized. Watch the event live at https://www.lyon.edu/commencement-2021.
