Lyon to honor alumnus with press box dedication

BATESVILLE — As a member of the Lyon College Athletics Hall of Fame and a long-time supporting alumnus of the College’s vision for its students, it is only fitting the Scots Field press box be dedicated in honor of James L. “G.G.” Rutherford Jr. ’42.
The College board of directors unanimously voted to name the press box at the baseball complex after Rutherford during an October meeting.
During his years at Lyon, Rutherford maximized on the College’s mission to provide a first-class education in an unparalleled liberal arts environment. He played baseball, basketball, and tennis, was active in the student government, and elected president of his senior class.
The dedication ceremony will be during a 2014 spring baseball game.
