Over 200 Lyon students, staff, and faculty visited sites across Batesville for the College’s annual Service Day on Oct. 20, completing over 400 volunteer hours.

Lyon College first-year students learned the value of service during Scot Week.
Students helped fill backpacks with school supplies for local middle school students on Aug. 10. Dean of Students Lai-Monté Hunter said the project was a way to surprise local schools and help out students in need.
“It felt good to give back to the community,” said Beau Asher, of Greenwood.
Desmond Wilkins, of Little Rock, said he enjoyed helping out with the service project.

A Lyon junior gave back to the community while gaining career experience this summer.
John Pruden, of Allen, Texas, was accepted into the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) Scholars Internship Program and worked with the research and development lab at Hexion Inc. in Stafford, Texas.
Hexion is a chemical company specializing in thermoset resins. Pruden said the company makes specialty chemicals and sells them to corporations.
