Music Education

The education major for secondary and K-12 pairs with the music major is designed to prepare students to teach vocal music at the K-12 level in Arkansas. The program offers students the opportunity to pursue either instrumental or vocal teacher licensure. The curriculum offered adds professional training and classroom experience to a solid education in the liberal arts.

Students pursuing licensure in K-12 music education must meet program admission requirements for enrollment in junior-level practicum courses and then be formally admitted by the Liberal Arts Teacher Education Committee prior to enrolling in the senior internship. Candidates must earn passing scores on required standardized assessments prior to recommendation for licensure.

Students interested in this program can look over the Teacher Education Handbook for more information.
