LEAP Scholars
The LEAP Scholars program is an application-based program open to incoming students interested in the Lyon Education and Adventure Program (LEAP) and/or the Outdoor Leadership Concentration (OLP). This program will include a four-year scholarship that will be awarded to up to four incoming students every fall. The scholarship will increase throughout the students’ four years at Lyon College, alongside an increase in responsibility within the LEAP Scholars program.
Scholarship Requirements
- Must complete the LEAP Scholars Application
- Must maintain a 2.5 GPA
- Must be enrolled in 1 OLP-required course per semester
Scholarship Duties
Year 1: 5 hours/week of LEAP Programming, Start track for Trip Leader, Help plan and co-lead 2 day trips
Year 2: 7 hours/week of LEAP programming, Must have or complete Wilderness First Responder (WFR), Plan and lead 2 day trips (Can substitute co-leading extended trip as 1 day trip)
Year 3: 10 hours/week of LEAP programming, Plan and lead 1 extended trip, Plan and lead 2 day trips, Help facilitate 1 on-campus workshop, Attend Arkansas Regional Adventure Programming Conference (ARAP)
Year 4: 10 hours/week of LEAP programming, Plan and lead 1 extended trip, Plan and lead 2 day trips, Complete LEAP internship, Facilitate 1 on-campus workshop, Attend ARAP
