Karin Brown has been an Assistant Professor of Elementary Education at Lyon since 2016. Before that, she was the director of teacher education at Ozarka College for three years, and prior to that, she was the academic services coordinator in the TRiO Student Support Services program for about five years at Ozarka College. Before starting a career in higher education, Karin taught in public education at the elementary level for 19 years. Karin acquired her B.S. in Education from Arkansas State University (ASU) in 1986. She received a master's degree in training systems (technology specialist) at the University of Central Arkansas in 2004 and a became a specialist in community college teaching (administration) at ASU in 2008. She is currently completing her doctoral degree in educational leadership at ASU.
Karin is an active volunteer firefighter/first responder for her local rural fire department. She is an adjunct instructor for the Arkansas Fire Academy. She also holds certification as an instructor for the American Heart Association to teach CPR, AED, and First Aid. In her spare time, Karin enjoys traveling, shopping and spending time with her family and friends.
