Friday, October 20

 

11 a.m.                          Founders’ Day Convocation, Brown Chapel-Fine Arts Building

Join us for our yearly Founder’s Day Convocation as we remember the origins of Lyon College and learn from keynote speaker, Brian C. Mitchell, co-author of the book How to Run a College.

 

12-1:30 p.m.                Career EXPLO, Grassy Knoll

The Career Center invites you to the second annual Career EXPLO, a networking event where alumni and recruiters visit campus to share career information and opportunities with students exploring their own career options.  For more information, contact the Career Center at careercenter@lyon.edu or 870-307-7227.

 

12:30 p.m.                   Lyon College Golf Tournament at The Course at Eagle Mountain  

Gather your clubs and three of your friends for this 4-person charitable scramble to benefit the men’s and women’s golf programs.  Entry fee is $100 per person or $400 per team. The Alumni Council honors some of Lyon College’s more distinguished alumni. This business formal event for invited guests includes a reception, a decadent meal, and the opportunity to meet and mingle with this year’s recipients.

Join Lyon College and its alumni for a casual social gathering at The Duck Blind. Kick off the Homecoming weekend with a chance to relax, catch up with old classmates, meet new friends, and remember your time at Lyon (Arkansas) College.

This is our bi-annual meeting to discuss ways to strengthen ties between Lyon and its alumni. This event is open to Alumni Council members only.

 

10 a.m.                       Campus Tour, Lyon College Welcome Center

Curious as to what has changed or remained the same about your alma mater’s campus? Join us on a tour to see what you can remember about this beautiful place.

 

10 a.m.                       Men’s Wrestling Open Practice, Hatcher Wrestling Center

Get your first look at the 2017-18 men’s wrestling team in an open practice inside the Lyon College Wrestling Building. Enjoy the opportunity to watch a live practice and to learn more about the sport of wrestling

 

11 a.m.                        Faculty-Staff-Alumni meet and greet, Edwards Commons, Maxfield Room

Drop in and sample some of Baker Brenda’s delicious creations while reconnecting with faculty and learning more about a select group of students’ summer experiences at this informal event. Have your favorite professors retired? Share their names when you RSVP to ensure they receive an invitation to this event. 

           

11 a.m.                        Lyon College Women’s Soccer vs. Hannibal-LaGrange University, Huser Field 

Join fellow Lyon College soccer fans as the Scots host American Midwest Conference rival Hannibal-LaGrange University at J. Marshall Huser Field. The Scots will honor their seniors as part of the “Senior Day” celebration prior to the 11 a.m. kickoff.

 

11 a.m.                        Soccer Tailgate, Huser Field

Join us at a soccer tailgate as we cheer on the Lyon College women’s soccer team. Also, members of our men’s team will be in attendance, so come meet them and wish them luck before their game!

 

12 p.m.                        Baseball Alumni Game, Scots Field

Can our former Scots best our current Scots on the big diamond? Come see this friendly rivalry and learn why every Lyon College baseball player is “forever a Scot.” Warmups will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the game beginning at 12. Join your favorite campus and community organizations for pre-game fellowship and fun at Pioneer Stadium.

This gathering is for any and all Lyon College alumni; their friends and family; and current Lyon faculty, staff, and students. Except for the price of your ticket to the football game, there is no cost to attend. Join us and meet some wonderful new friends.

 

1 p.m.                           Men’s Basketball Alumni Game, Becknell Gym

Former Lyon College players are invited to return to the hardwood in the Men’s Basketball Alumni Game inside Becknell Gymnasium. Warmups will begin at 12:30 p.m. with the game tipping off at 1. Call Coach Chad Tapp at 870.307.7221 or email chad.tapp@lyon.edu for more information.

2 p.m.                        Lyon College Football vs. Texas Wesleyan University, Pioneer Stadium

Lyon College football fans are invited to watch the Scots battle Texas Wesleyan in a Central States Football League contest at Pioneer Stadium at 2 p.m. Be sure to cheer on the Scots and to stay during halftime, too, because Lyon College will present the Legacy Cup Award winner, the 2017 Alumni Awardees, and the annual Homecoming Coronation.

Join us as we congratulate and crown our 2017 homecoming court, voted on by their peers, at halftime of the football game. Following the coronation ceremony, we will present the Greek Organization with the largest alumni giving percentage with the coveted Legacy Cup Award. We will also present the winner of the 2017 Greek Challenge with the Greek Challenge Cup. We will introduce our 2017 Alumni Award recipients during halftime so that all can see our distinguished alumni and hear about their great accomplishments.

7 p.m.                          Lyon College Alumni 5th Quarter Party and Josie's

Join Lyon College and its alumni for a casual social gathering at Josie’s. Discuss the highlights of the big game and connect with friends old and new

 


 

Sunday, October 22

10:30 a.m.                  Scones and coffee in Brown Chapel-Fine Arts Building foyer

Join Lyon College alumni and friends, including the congregation of First Presbyterian Church of Batesville, for refreshments prior to the morning worship service.

 

11 a.m.                         Kirkin’ o’ the Tartans, Brown Chapel-Fine Arts Building

This traditional church service, highlighted by the blessing of clan tartans, will feature bagpipes and drums, colorful tartan banners, and elements of Scottish liturgy and history. 

 

12 p.m.                         Kirkin’ Brunch, Edwards Commons ($5 per person)

Take advantage of one of the last events of Homecoming to gather with fellow alumni. This will be both a great brunch and a great time to exchange contact information or tell friends goodbye until the next alumni event.

 

12 p.m.                         Tau Kappa Epsilon – Xi Tau Chapter Alumni Association Formal Meeting, Derby Building, Room 16

Alumni from the Class of 1967 will join alumni from earlier classes as they are formally inducted into Club 50, the special society for alumni who attended the college 50 or more years ago.

Join us on this special occasion as Margaret “Maggie” Alsup, ’11, is ordained as a minister by the Arkansas Presbytery and is installed as Chaplain at Lyon College.
