Students have played disc golf at Lyon since 2008 when an 18-hole disc golf course was installed on campus, but this will be the ﬁrst time the institution has had an ofﬁcial club team for the sport. Under the direction of Austin Smith, assistant director of outdoor recreation and education at Lyon, the Scots will compete for a chance to participate in the National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships that are held every spring in North Augusta, South Carolina. Lyon disc golfers receive ofﬁcial Lyon gear, scholarships, and money towards traveling and competing in disc golf tournaments.
Lyon College cycling is a club-oriented activity welcoming both competitive and casual lovers of cycling who seek to expand their understanding of the outdoors through bike riding, adventuring, and other activities. Collegiate cycling, a team-oriented bicycle racing sport for women and men, is one of the fastest growing facets of American cycling today. Lyon College cyclers can compete in the South Central Collegiate Cycling Conference (SCCCC) of USA Cycling, participating in mountain biking and road cycling during the regular seasons with hopes of bids to the National Tournament. Lyon cyclists receive ofﬁcial Lyon kits, access to the college bike shop, scholarships, and money towards traveling and competing in cycling events.
