Celtic Poetry Contest

Lyon welcomes poetry submissions for the sixth annual Celtic Poetry Contest, sponsored by the Arkansas Scottish Festival. Submissions may be any style and length but must have a Celtic (Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Briton, Galician, etc.) theme or traditional form. Dr. Teresa Burns Murphy will be this year's judge. Murphy won last year's contest with the poem "Beira: Scottish Queen of Winter."

The first place prize winner will receive $100. Second and third place will receive $50 and $25 respectively. The winning poem will be featured in the festival's Celtic Concert on Friday evening. The author does not need to be present at the festival to win.

To enter the contest, send your original poem to james.bell@lyon.edu. Please include the words POETRY ENTRY in the subject line. Entry deadline is March 31, 2017.
