Dr. Barry Gehm joined the Lyon College faculty in 2003, after doing postdoctoral research at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University Medical School. His research focuses on how environmental, and particularly dietary, chemicals interact with estrogen receptor, the protein within cells that mediates the effects of estrogens. In the classroom, Dr. Gehm teaches Chemistry in Context (CHM 100), Introductory Chemistry (CHM 105), General Chemistry I (CHM 110), and Biochemistry (BIO/CHM 365). He is a deacon and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Batesville and serves on the board of Habitat for Humanity of Independence County.
