To support student learning, the Mabee-Simpson Library houses over 215,000 books and sound and video recordings and provides access to expanding digital archives and more than 20,000 periodical subscriptions.

The Morrow Academic Center offers free academic support services to all Lyon College students through tutoring and supplemental instruction.

Guided by a comprehensive strategic plan, Lyon continues to set new goals for an exceptional education and seek ways to expand its curricular and co-curricular offerings in ways consistent with its mission statement.

Academic Courses and Curriculum

Lyon offers Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees in 15 majors, 21 minors, and 7 concentrations. Students may also choose to complete a pre-professional program or pursue an individualized major.

Educating Productive Involved Citizens (EPIC), Lyon's Core curriculum, is a required component of all B.A. and B.S. degree programs. EPIC is designed to introduce and teach students how to be stewards of responsibility and integrity. Through the Core curriculum, students develop an understanding of the intellectual and practical skills essential for engaged citizenship, the historical and cultural heritages that have shaped modern society, the differences within communities and regions around the world, and the personal responsibilities necessary for engaged citizenship.

Academic Advising

The success of Lyon's flexible curriculum rests on the strength of its academic advisors, who help students discover and shape their academic goals. Advisors are open to students year-round--at SOAR, in class, in the lab, through the Year One sequence, and during their office hours
