Being at the top of the hill at sunset was wonderful:

After the students returned to Arkansas (or wherever), I traveled alone to some other places that had many beautiful churches. First was Meteora, where five Byzantine churches were built on huge rock formations in northern Greece:




I also visited Santorini, the cite of a volcano which exploded around 1,000 B.C. What is left of the mountain is beautiful:



Finally, I went to Crete and saw, among other things, more churches:



The many churches in Greece are a testament to the place of religion in the lives of the Greeks.
