November 29, 2006
November 2006 has been a very busy time for the Scottish Heritage Program,
with December promising to be even busier. The band played for the Pine Bluff
Presbyterian church's Heritage Sunday on the 5th. Additionally, Cody Wagnon
performed for the Newport United Methodist church, and Brooke and the dancers
attended a church function in Jonesboro with Rev. Nancy McSpadden. All were very
well received.
Several alumni receptions were held during the month, with various pipers
playing at these. Vince Moore was heard playing in Memphis, Cody Wagnon and Ken
Adler attended the function in Springfield, MO.; and Ken Adler and myself played
at Jaunita's in Little Rock. Neil McCarthy played for the Fairfield Bay
Presbyterian church on the 12th with Claudia Marsh, our resident "Church Lady"
also there for some meet and greet.
Ken and myself attended the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association Annual
General Meeting and judges meeting in Newark, NJ that same weekend.
Ken represented Lyon at the Louisiana Highland Games in Jackson the weekend of
November 18th. The band did their annual gig in the Convocation Center at ASU in
Jonesboro and made our usual stop at IHOP on the way home. We play for the
alumni and admissions function and then at half time during the b-ball game.
Again a standing ovation as we marched off. we always appreciate the reception
we get there.
Lot's of travel over the past few weeks and we're all glad the Holidays are fast
approaching.
For the band,
Jimmy Bell
