JULY 19, 2005
Well, well, well...
We have certainly had a busy time of it in July. The early part of the month
was filled with private lessons and band practices for all the local gang,
gearing up for the fall. Our first summer school took up the "Lyon's" share of
the remaining time. Trips to the airport in Memphis and runs to the store for
stuff beforehand assured that I stayed off the streets and out of trouble.
The summer school was a huge success, and we look forward to an even bigger
turnout for out second school next July. we offered the EUSPBA certification
program this year, and that was also a big hit. Everyone achieved the
certificates they tried out for.
We met some new young people that hopefully will attend Lyon in the future. The
students got a thorough workout during the week, and everyone, including
instructors left "piped out".
I took off for New York to judge the Rockland County Games. Very reminiscent of
last years ASF as the rain was coming sideways in the morning. It did brighten
up a pinch later, and we were able to get all the light music contests finished
before the bands started. I was fortunate enough to win the pro MSR with a 4th
in the jig contest. It's a great country when they let old guys like me still
compete *0
