This summer was spent, mostly, by me working for the APPLE project here at Lyon College. I was able to confirm this year's fundraiser, which will still be selling Hearney & Sons tea, and was also able to get most of the choreographies for the year completed! The older girls will be dancing a Cake Walk to the Bay City Roller's "I Only Want to Be With You." It's turning out to be very cool. The Cake Walk is a courting dance from the 30's and is one of the "newest" dances in the Highland dancing world. If you'd like to have a rough idea of what the dance looks like then follow this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ib5Hk_6is2I (it is the second dance on the video). The dancers in this video do a lovely job! :D

Back home in Missouri, I danced and played harp for a family friend who is in charge of the local museum. I presented the Irish Jig, the Earl of Errol, the Fling, the Triubhas, the Sword dance, the Lilt, and the Flora (along with their stories and histories) for an entire weekend. The presentations were very well received and I was even sketched by a local artist named Cathy Johnson! :D
