Program in Religion and Philosophy

Mission of the Religion and Philosophy Program
Religion and philosophy play a central role in a good liberal arts education, providing students the occasion to raise questions and reflect upon the most basic issues they confront in their lives, in other disciplines, and in the society in which they live.  In keeping with our Christian heritage of reasoned faith the Religion and Philosophy program encourages students to understand positions different from their own sympathetically, to evaluate them critically, to express their understanding clearly and cogently, and to formulate their own point of view thoughtfully.
