Phi Mu Fraternity has two national philanthropies:
|
|
| CMN was adopted as the Fraternity's second national philanthropy. CMN Champions is an international non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for 170 affiliated children's hospitals. Each year, these hospitals help 14 million kids. These kids suffer from all diseases and injuries including, cancer, AIDS, birth defects, accidents and trauma. In Fact, CMN children's hospitals help more kids each year than any other organization. | Project H.O.P.E. (Health Opportunities for People Everywhere) was adopted in 1963. Project H.O.P.E. teaches the latest techniques of medical science to medical personnel in developing countries. |
The community service committee has been very successful this year in
fulfilling the first words of Phi Mu's creed - "To lend to those less fortunate a
helping hand." We have helped numerous people in the Batesville area through the
simple sharing of our time and talents. Our service has fostered both the community and
the chapter. We have grown much closer by working together for the betterment of our
community.
Service Day projects
range from shoveling gravel and dirt at area playgrounds to make them safer to
projects such as reading to area kindergarteners. Sisters are very active
on this day and make the most of their time with the people of the Batesville
community.
Dance Marathon

Each year we sponsor an event called Dance Marathon to raise money for the Arkansas Children's Hospital. Each sister gathers sponsors. Then, on the day of the event, we dance for 12 hours straight. Not only do we dance though. We also play games, have contests, and put on skits.
Last year, the theme for Dance Marathon was "Saved By The Bell." We put on skits reenacting some of our favorite "Bayside" moments, played a "Saved By The Bell" trivia game, and watched a couple of the classic episodes together.
As always, Dance Marathon was a huge success. Many people came out to support us during the day and to join in on the fun. Together, we raised about $6,000 for Children's Hospital!
