THE 399: LONDON THEATRE/ 1 credit, Winter 2007-8, Counts. Attend performances at a wide variety of London theatres, see the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, and fringe theatre in unusual places. Visit the Theatre Museum and have at least one backstage tour. Prerequisite: THE 101 or ENG 110. Enrollment limit: 16*. Course fee: $550#.
ART 399: EXPLORING ITALIAN ART/ Spring 2008, Valle. Destination: Rome, Florence, and Venice. More museums than you can imagine, both classical and modern, as well as architectural marvels. On-site drawing required. Prerequisites: ART 110 AND one of the following: ART 101, ART 212. Enrollment limit: 12*. Fee: $500#.
BIO 399: VANCOUVER ISLAND ECOLOGY AND BIODIVERSITY/ 1 credit, Spring 2008, Lindblom. Study some of the most varied ecosystems within the Pacific rim. Visit Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre, Pacific Rim National Park, and Tofino, a quaint fishing and art community. Prerequisites: BIO 110 or BIO 100. Enrollment limit: 14*. Course fee: $600#.
FRN 399: FRENCH HISTORY AND CULTURE/ 1 credit, Spring 2008, Robbins. Cinematic, historical & gustatory exploration of France, including a visit to Cannes during the International Film Festival (if economically feasible). Prerequisite: FRN 102. We’ll keep you posted. SPN 399: HISTORICAL AND CONTEMPORARY SPAIN/ 1 credit, Spring 2008, Wood.
Destination: Andalucía, Cádiz, and Madrid. Examine the mingling of Arabic and European cultures in historic Spain, visible in its architecture and art. See how a culture of tolerance in medieval Spain led to the nation’s development, with emphasis on its modernization and relationship to the rest of Europe. Prerequisite: SPN 102. Enrollment limit: 10*. Course fee: $500#.

Actual fees may be slightly or substantially higher, depending on the strength of the dollar against foreign currencies. It’s very hard to predict prices two years ahead.
