Ø  The Mabee Simpson Library Catalog is at:  http://mabee.lyon.edu/uhtbin/cgisirsi/x/0/0/49, or you can click the link: Books, Videos, and Dvds on our main page to find it.  These are the books that we own that you can search for.

Ø  WorldCat / Interlibrary Loan

If the library does not own a book you need, or you can’t find a book in our collection, try WorldCat.  This link is also located in the Books section of the web pages.  You can order the books from interlibrary loan while in WorldCat.  Follow the links that say “Borrow this from another library,” or “interlibrary loan,” or “see more details for locating this item. There is a .50 cent fee and Ms. Kathy Whittenton, at 307-7505 will email or call you when they come in so you can pick them up.  Articles can also be ordered and they cost .05 cents per page.  See more information about interlibrary loan at this link:

http://www.lyon.edu/webdata/groups/library/interlibraryloanelectronicforms.asp

Ø  EBooks

There are about 30,000 ebooks in our collection and these books are completely online and full text.  You can find them in the “Book, Video, and Dvd page at:  http://www.lyon.edu/webdata/groups/library/books.asp

Scroll down through the list and click on “Netlibrary” and you can view them.  These books are also listed in the Mabee Simpson Library Catalog.  When you see one listed it will have [computer file] next to the title.  Click on the URL and follow the links into the book.

The  English Page  http://www.lyon.edu/webdata/groups/library/english.asp

Ø  Topic Searches: You can follow the links to English from Topic Searches on the right sidebar or use this:  http://www.lyon.edu/webdata/groups/library/english.asp

Ø  The MLA International Bibliography is a list of all scholarly works (articles and books) on literary topics. It does not provide texts of the articles it lists. However, once you find an article in its listings that you'd like to read, it can lead you to full text in our other databases by using the 360 icon.  Click on the 360 icon and drill into the links.  If you come up with nothing, then use the interlibrary loan link to fill out a loan form.  Submit it and Kathy Whittenton will be in touch with you.  Articles cost five cents per sheet.  She’ll call or email you when they are ready to pick up.

Ø  Also Notice the Book, Theater, and Film Reviews Link.  This is where you’ll be searching for journal articles.  You could use the same batch of databases listed on our other web pages, but why not go to this page and save some clicking?  The first five will probably be all you need.

Example of a citation from the MLA International Bibliography that does not contain full text:

faulkner360

Ø  Last but not least, look at the bookmark:  The Web.  Under this link there are links to pages about Faulkner supported by the University of Mississippi.

Example of a citation that contains full text from Academic Search Premier:

Notice you have the HTML and the PDF files here.  Click either one and you have the full text article at hand.  If you don’t see these, like in the MLA example mentioned earlier, then you have to search the 360 link, or order from the Interlibrary loan department.

Ø  Full Text electronic or paper journals
This link is for searching a journal title and seeing if we have it.  For instance, I typed in “Faulkner Journal” and I got the following:

Example:

This tells me that we have this journal in print from 1985 to now and that if I follow the links I can search for articles in:

Proquest Research Library and Academic Search Premier.

Ø  Citation Linker

This link, also found on the “Journals” page is useful if you have a citation in your hand and you want to plug it in and see if we own the paper journal or the full text somewhere online.
