Travel: Reentry to the United States

According to 8 CFR § 214.2(f)(4), an F-1 student returning to the United States from a temporary absence of five months or less may be readmitted for attendance at a SEVIS approved educational institution.  Documents required for reentry include:

A valid passport or travel document;

bullet

A valid F-1 visa (unless exempt from passport and visa requirements);

bullet

An I-20 properly endorsed in the current term, if student is returning during the academic year, or, if a student is returning from his or her annual vacation, executed in the term preceding the vacation.
