Pipers continue their winning ways against Williams Baptist
(September 21, 2004) Batesville, AR – The Lyon College volleyball team extended their season long three match win streak Tuesday night at home against Williams Baptist 3-0 (30-15, 30-20, 30-16). The ladies led throughout and swept the season series 2-0 from Williams. Leading the way for the Pipers was senior Ceca Brckalo. Ceca put away 14 kills with 2 service aces and 13 digs. Fellow senior Yllen Rosales dished out 23 assists with 8 digs and 3 total blocks, while Freshman Daria Paunovich controlled the front line denying Williams with 11 block assists. Junior Susie Harper didn’t disappoint her fans as she was tabbed TranSouth libero of the week for the second week out of three, digging out 21 balls to help to lead her team’s offense to victory.
“We played well,” commented Coach Justin Dee. “I think we wanted to come out and show how much we have improved since our close four game match up at (WBC). We are playing well at the right time. Now we need to focus on conference.”
The Pipers open up conference play this weekend as they welcome Cumberland University and Trevecca Nazerene into Becknell gym. Match time is 7pm Friday against Cumberland, with the Saturday match scheduled for 12:00 pm.
