Harper Named Region XI Libero of the Week

 

JACKSON, Tenn.--.NAIA  Region XI Volleyball Player, Setter and Libero of the Week

September 5, 2004

 

Etanislada Cuello and Sofia Zuluaga, both of Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) and Susie Harper of Lyon College (Ark.), have been named NAIA Volleyball Player, Setter and Libero of the Week, respectively, for the week ending September 5, 2004.

 

Cuello, a 6-1 Junior Middle Blocker from Medellin, Columbia, helped lead Lindsey Wilson to a 3-0 week and improve to 7-0 on the season.  Cuello tallied 36 kills (3.60 per game) for an attack percentage of 0.448.  She also added ten digs, seven service aces and 7 blocks (four solo, three assists).  Her best performance of the week came against St. Louis Pharmacy with 16 kills, seven digs and five service aces. 

 

Zuluaga, a 6-3 Freshman Setter from El Santuario, Columbia, also helped lead Lindsey Wilson to a 3-0 week and improve to 7-0 on the season.  She dished out 77 assists in three matches on the week for an average of 7.70 assists per game.  She also added 23 digs, 8 kills, 6 blocks (2 solo, 4 assist) and two service aces. 

 

Harper, a 5-7 Junior Libero from Pocahontas, Arkansas, was an all-conference Libero last season and has started the season right where she left off.  She helped guide the Lady Pipers to an undefeated week with 35 digs, 44 receptions and 12 service aces on the week.  She currently leads her team in digs, more than doubling the next closest player.
