Lyon’s Rivas Named NAIA First Team All-American
 

Jose Rivas, a junior from Anzoategui, Venezuela, has been named the NAIA First Team All-American.  This is the first time in Lyon College history for a baseball player to be named First Team All-American.  Jose finished the year with a .409 batting average, 17 home runs, 77 rbi's, 57 runs, 92 hits, and a 22 game hit streak that is still alive.  Also for Lyon, Josh Talbott, a senior from Mesa, AZ, made NAIA Honorable Mention All-American.  Rivas was also named the TranSouth Athletic Conference player of the year and Region XI Player of the year. Talbott was named first team all-conference and first team all-region.

 

Rivas set seven single season records for Lyon College this year.  They are: 17 home runs, 77 runs batted in, 57 runs scored, 92 hits, 160 total bases, 225 at-bats, and a 22 game hit streak that is still alive and will continue into next season.

 

Talbott finishes his career at Lyon College as the all-time leader for home runs in a career with 20, with 14 of those coming this season.
