Lyon Soccer signs 1st Team All-American Heather Palmer
At James Bowie High School, Heather had numerous academic awards, these include: Who's Who Among American High School Students 2001-2004, National Honor Roll in 2003 and 2004, National Honor Society in 2003-2004, the 2004 Principals Award and was a member of the Deans List in 2004. At Cedar Valley College Heather received the Presidents Award in 2004 and 2005, along with the Phi Theta Kappa Award in 2004.
During High School, Heather's soccer achievements included: Most Improved Player in 2001, Coaches Award in 2002 and 2004, 1st Team All-District in 2003 and 2004 and Most Valuable Player and Team Captain in 2004.
While at Cedar Valley College, Heather helped lead her team to the National Championship match during the 2005 season. Even though Heather's team lost the match to Springfield Tech, Heather received numerous honors for her fantastic play during the 2005 season. Heather was the Team Captain, 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Region, National Tournament All-Tournament Team, NJCAA 2nd Team All-American and NSCAA 1st Team All-American. Heather was also the recipient of the Sun Award.
Coach McNaughton adds: "This is a major signing for Lyon College and the Women's Soccer program. Heather will be the 1st, 1st Team All-American to play at Lyon College and is the 2nd All-American to sign this spring for the Women's Soccer program. Heather brings a winning mentality to the program. Heather brings in a wealth of experience and will fit right into our back 4 this fall. Heather also has the ability to get forward from the outside back position, which also shows the great versatility she has. I am so excited Heather will be coming to Lyon College this fall!!"
