The Scots won two games at the Lyon College Invitational on September 3rd and 4th. Lyon beat Sterling College (KS) on the 3rd and Southwestern College (KS) on the 4th. The Scots out scored their two opponents 8-1 over these two games. Against Sterling the Scots found themselves down 1-0 after forward Travis Freeman of Sterling scored on a long range shot 15 minutes into the game. The Scots answered back just one minute later when Tim Akin found Nick Jones on crossing through ball. The rest of the game was all Lyon. Steve Banks crossed the ball to Michael Mumert who headed in a goal with just over 5 minutes left in the first half to give the Scots the lead. In the second half Tim Akin and Nick Jones scored on assists from Jeremy Bobo and Chris Schmitt. The final score was Lyon 4, Sterling 1.

The Scots played a very good game the next day against Southwestern. Needing only one save from freshman goalkeeper, Dustin Horton. Nick Jones scored just minutes into the game of a cross from Kris Koelemay. Steve Banks scored twice in the game, both times with his head off of crosses from Robert Kaloghirou and Jeremy Bobo. Bobo also scored in the game, Banks recorded the assist. Final score Lyon 4, Southwestern 0.

In other action at the Lyon College Invitational. Freed Hardeman defeated Southwestern 2-0 on September 3rd and Sterling 5-0 on the 4th.
