Tournament/Lyon Intramural Soccer
Rules
- Depending on the number of
entries: teams will be divided into a number of groups with the winner of
each group going through to a semifinal. If the teams are limited then a
round-robin format could be employed.
- Each team will be given the name
of one of the countries represented on campus.
- The 4 person teams that must be
co-ed. There are no goalkeepers. Three players on the pitch and each team
will be allowed one substitute.
- 20-minute games with a two
minute break after 10 minutes. Each game will be officiated with one
referee.
- Play will be restarted with a
kicked ball. There are no direct free-kicks. The referee may award a
penalty kick (from 6m way) if he/she judges an infringement to be flagrant
or denies an obvious goal scoring opportunity.
- A flagrant infringement not in
the vicinity of the goal may be punished with a 1 minute power-play for the
opposing team.
- No draws are allowed. There will
be a penalty shoot-out at the end of full time if the score is tied. In the
shoot-out, three shots will be taken 12m from the goal. After the three
shots, kicks will continue until a miss is recorded. The first team that
misses is the loser.
- No team may have more than
two soccer players (defined as man or woman)
Adjustments/additions to these rules
will be made if circumstances permit.
