Biography
Julie Church
is a Lyon College alumna and is in her second year as
head golf coach and assistant women’s basketball coach
at Lyon.
Church, a
Blytheville, Ark. native, graduated from Lyon in 2004
with a B.A. in Mathematics and received a master’s
degree in Kinesiology from the University of Central
Arkansas.
She was an
assistant women’s golf coach at UCA from 2004-06 where
she coached two NCAA Division II All-Americans and two
academic All-Americans. The women’s golf team ranked No.
4 in the nation among NCAA Division II squads and won
seven consecutive tournaments in 2005, including the
Gulf South Conference championship.
Church was a
four-year letter winner in both golf and basketball at
Lyon from 2000 to 2004 and was a Winnie Marable Award
winner for the school’s most outstanding female athlete.
In
basketball, Church captained the team and led the squad
in 3-point shooting percentage her senior year.
The
Blytheville native was the first scholarship women’s
golfer at Lyon, where she was a three-time All-TranSouth
Conference selection, made an All-Region team, was
selected to the All-National Tournament team and was a
NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. She also
participated in three NAIA National Tournaments -- with
a high finish of sixth place in 2003 – and was a member
of three TranSouth Conference Championship teams and one
regional championship team.
