What's in your Mailbox?
When you double click the Mailbox icon from your Desktop, a Mailbox window will open. If no one has e-mailed you, it will be empty. This one has a new message (the red flag indicates it has not been read) from that Southern bagpiping icon, Copperhead. You can also see the size of the message, what it's about, and when it was sent. Double clicking the message Name will open it.

You can change the appearance of you Mailbox in several ways by clicking the Views header and selecting a different view from the drop-down list. This particular view above is by List.

An opened message will look like the image below. You will notice that the Toolbar has changed a bit. Mouseovers will identify each of the icons. The more important icons though, are New Message, (first on the left), Reply (third from the left), Reply Sender (which replies on to the originator of an e-mail sent to a group of people), Forward, Print, and Delete. The Send and Close icon (greyed-out in this illustration) will appear as solid from your outgoing message. You have to either physically delete outgoing messages (To:) or move them to a sent mail folder. Don't let them build up and clog your Inbox.

Back in the Mailbox window, if you go under the Views header you can Change View Properties. That's where you can choose how you want messages to be sorted and displayed in your mailbox. Make sure to click Apply after you make changes. The Default button will return you to original settings.

The Split selection in the dropdown menu under View allow your mailbox to be split either horizontally or vertically. You can then keep the incoming and outgoing mail on one side, and folders on the other to save mail. There is NO automatic routing of either inbound or outbound mail. If you want to save copies of your Sent Mail, you will need to create a folder for that purpose and manually drag and drop copies of your outgoing messages into that folder.

To create a new folder, you just click on the folder icon.

Then to give it a name, you right click the new folder created in your Mailbox and select Properties from the drop down menu.

Type the name in the appropriate window.

To reply to a message you've received just click the Reply or Reply Sender icons from the top left of the inbound message. To include the original text from the incoming message in your reply, use your mouse to highlight the text you want to include.

Type your reply, and when you're ready click the Send icon (first on the left and looks like a red postmark) OR the Send and Close icon. That's the second from the left. It looks like the red postmark and says "TO" underneath. It sends your message, and automatically closes the window afterward.
