Chit Chat
The Chat feature allows any user of the FirstClass system on campus to have real time text exchange with anyone else logged onto our system, and is activated by clicking the Private Chat button on the FirstClass user Desktop. It's the fourth from the right on the Toolbar and has the green symbols resembling human heads with "dialogue bubbles".
Your outgoing text appears in the small window near the top, and both your text and the resulting responses appear in the larger window below. The text wraps automatically. Either hitting the Send button, or the Return key of your keyboard cause your text to be transmitted. Clicking the Invite button shows a list of everyone logged onto the system.
You can Invite anyone who is logged on to join the Chat. They will hear a signal like a doorbell, see a window inviting them to join, and give them the option to accept or decline. To end the Chat, click the X in the top right corner of the Private Chat Window.
