Your Virtual Little Black Book

Using your Address Book is very simple.  From your Desktop, you can either select File, New, and New Address or you can open the Address Book window, as in the example below and select File, New, and New Address.

A "New Personal Address window will open.

In the top Name window, type the person's name as you wish it to appear in your Directory.  In the Name section under General, type in more details.  You can use the Address Book as an electronic Rolodex and put in quite a bit of information.  After you have entered the e-mail address of the entry, make sure to Enter or  Return so the little blue gate appears next to the address.

Once you have entered all the information click OK.  Now, when you return to your Directory, you will see whatever Address book entries you make as the first entries in your directory.  Other users see only their own Address Book entries in their respective Directory listings, and do not see yours.

From that point on, anytime you click the Address Book icon, you will see the entries you've made, and double clicking the entry will open it, allowing you to edit the information, or access the more detailed entries.

You can delete an entry by right clicking on it from this window, and selecting Delete from the menu that appears.

You can also create mailing lists that are stored in your Address Book, so that you can mail to several individuals simultaneously by addressing only the name assigned to the list.  this is handy if you're working on an on-going group project and need to communicate regularly with other members of the group.
